Seasonal fruit vegetables
3 min read
Storing and transporting fruits and vegetables can destroy many nutrients that our bodies need because it extends the time in which they're exposed to the elements...

By eating fruits and vegetables that are in season, we are decreasing the time spent from paddock to plate, which maximises the nutritional value of the food. It also means that we are eating the tastier fruits and vegetables that are in season and meeting our needs for that time of year! Is it a coincidence that we have an abundance of vitamin C containing citrus as we are entering cold and flu season? We think not!

The experts at Eat Sustainably have done the hard work for you and developed seasonal eating guide, so you can find out what’s in season in your area. Check out our collection of delicious homemade and tested recipes that can be filtered by ingredients that you have in season near you!

No time to delve into another section of the website? A quick tip to help you choose foods in season is to shop at your local farmers market or greengrocer. Going to these places is a great way to familiarise yourself with seasonal fruits and vegetables in your area, and they are often cheaper!
