As microwaves heat food so quickly, using electromagnetic radiation, there is some evidence that it is more energy efficient than using your oven (especially if you need to turn on a large oven!)...
However, it depends on the energy efficiency of your oven and what else you're heating at the time. For example, if you have the oven on to roast vegetables, then use the hot oven to heat other components of the dish, rather than the microwave. The less appliances you can use the better.
